A summer flair of hot air

During January’s dark winter days, summer isn’t more than a distant memory. But looking through photos from 2011 I found this really nice summer moment from August.

Hot air balloons were taking off from Gärdet and the late summer sun was slowly setting. I abruptly left the dinner table, grabbed my gear and ran out. With the camera mounted on a tripod I shot about 1200 photos from two different locations.

Here it is… a short but sweet time lapsed summer memory (also available in HD).

And this is how I created the time lapse:

Firework frenzy (Happy New Year)

Enjoy some of the fireworks we saw from our balcony. This image is about 20 shots merged together using Photoshop. I had the camera on a tripod taking images automatically while we drank a toast and welcomed 2012.

Happy New Year everyone!

Evening light, water and reflections by Kungsholmsstrand

Kungsholmsstrand on a warm summer night. Just a few blocks from where we live. The reflections on the water looked amazing and the bridge construction was kind of cool.

The colors of the three “reflection” photos are almost left as they were (I’ve made them a bit lighter). However I decided to reduce the saturation of the three bridge photos in order to put more focus on the construction.

Last winter shots of the season

With April playing us the usual game of winter-spring switching I looked through photos I took earlier this year.

So here are some scattered photos of Stockholm dressed up in white snow and ice.
And hopefully these are the last winter shots of the season – even though we today woke up to another snowy day…

Color of night or black and white?

Take a walk through the city streets of Stockholm and this is what you might see.

City lights can be really colorful and vivid at night.
But I also like the black and white versions of these photos.

Since I didn’t want to upload all in either color or bw I decided to upload both versions of every photo. But I do have a couple of favorites. For instance, I prefer “Sergels Torg” in color and “Crane” in black and white.

What’s your take?
