Last winter shots of the season

With April playing us the usual game of winter-spring switching I looked through photos I took earlier this year.

So here are some scattered photos of Stockholm dressed up in white snow and ice.
And hopefully these are the last winter shots of the season – even though we today woke up to another snowy day…

Yes, those are the initials of my wife and me, but I can’t take credit for drawing it. Just passed by.

Ice, water and sun made Nybrokajen a beautiful sight at 8.30 in the morning for a month or so.

Barbed wire and icy branches – or is the other way around?

Wrapped in ice – Bush preserved for the future?

The weather switched back and forth for a couple of days. It was humid, got warmer, started to melt and got colder again. And just like that this little bush was wrapped in an icy coat. It looked like a tree skeleton preserved for the future.

Or just waiting for me and my macro lens… 🙂

Clear crystals – Frost or rime?

Frost is often a beautiful sight (except when getting in to your car early mornings). In the end of autumn it is also a sure sign that winter is quickly approaching. Make no mistake – winter is here now. It’s -13° C outside according to my thermometer.

I took some of these shots with a 90mm macro lens. The ice crystals really pop when you nail the focus.

(By the way, who knew frost could be so much more than just plain old frost: Wikipedia)

Color of night or black and white?

Take a walk through the city streets of Stockholm and this is what you might see.

Sergelgatan Sergels Torg Sveavägen Kungsgatan Crane

City lights can be really colorful and vivid at night.
But I also like the black and white versions of these photos.

Since I didn’t want to upload all in either color or bw I decided to upload both versions of every photo. But I do have a couple of favorites. For instance, I prefer “Sergels Torg” in color and “Crane” in black and white.

What’s your take?

Creative Outlet updated – new design

Fireworks

To start off the new year I sat down to update Creative Outlet. I wanted to run the latest version of WordPress and before I knew it I went looking for new themes, plugins etc. I guess this is the look for 2010. The theme is called Titan. It looks nice and has some great out of the box features.

I am always amazed of how easy it is to work with the WordPress platform. Installing updates, using plugins, customizing… Everything is a breeze.

And stay tuned for some new photos. They are being uploaded even as we speak.

Happy New Year by the way!!
