A summer flair of hot air

During January’s dark winter days, summer isn’t more than a distant memory. But looking through photos from 2011 I found this really nice summer moment from August.

Hot air balloons were taking off from Gärdet and the late summer sun was slowly setting. I abruptly left the dinner table, grabbed my gear and ran out. With the camera mounted on a tripod I shot about 1200 photos from two different locations.

Here it is… a short but sweet time lapsed summer memory (also available in HD).

And this is how I created the time lapse:

Time Lapse: Gröna Lund Amusement Park

Lots of photos, fun and hours later – and now my second time lapse is done.

I took Marc along for the first evening of shooting. We took the boat out to Gröna Lund but unfortunately the time lapse of the boat ride didn’t work out. We spent 2-3 hours photographing all over the place (as well as winning a huge Toblerone chocolate just before closing time). I posted some of my still photos in an earlier post. I wanted a shot of the exterior as well and accomplished that on a separate evening from Fjällgatan.

When making a time lapse of things moving as fast as these rides you really need to take a lot of photos within a short time interval in order to get a smooth motion. In some cases I succeeded, in some I didn’t. Lesson learned.

Time Lapse: Dusk in Tel Aviv – Yafo

Ok, here it goes. My first attempt at creating a time lapse video from still photos. I’m quite happy with the result. Learned a lot of things in the process and will definitly keep trying. It’s great fun but it does take a lot of time…

The photos (about 800) are shot in Tel Aviv and Yafo. I was inspired by a great guided tour of Yafo and the sunset is captured near the port of Yafo looking at Tel Aviv. The time lapse itself feels more like the beginning than a complete story but I didn’t have time to let it evolve further. Hopefully I will be able to have another go soon (back home in Sweden).
